From the reviews
This is my first experience seeking out Acupuncture as a modality for treating chronic pain. I have hip dysplasia caused by a small deformity in my hip joint. Being in my 30s, a hip replacement is not feasible, and injections don't last long and aren't good for the joint long-term.
I took a good fall last spring and my back was killing me. I had been to two other acupuncturists, but decided to try Patrick at Gentle Porcupine. After 3 or 4 visits, my back was much better. Unfortunately I had a massive stroke in the summer of 2023.
Have had my second appointment now and wished to share my part. I am a holistic/natural type person myself and have my own personal issues I brought up to my primary care doctor. They reccomended me to try this for a relief. Excellent job done both times now.
If you're wondering if acupuncture really works then rest assured you're not alone. After years of neck and shoulder pain that was dismissed by my 'doctor' I decided to give acupuncture a try. Patrick at Gentle Porcupine was not the first person I visited but he will be the last...I'm convinced he's the best.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
