From the reviews

Joie Jacala, EAMP, LAc is truly the best acupuncturist I have known. I advise to mark the experiences of your first appointment with Joie. Note the before, during, and after a treatment what you feels, see, taste, all senses that is different.

After suffering an accident at work, MD doctors prescribed me several medicines for my injury. I was constantly dizzy, headaches, high blood pressure, and kind of depressed. I went to see Dr Marissa Boyd, and she started to decrease my prescribed medicines dosses and recommended natural supplements.

Nothing but a positive experience with Zenjoy Acupuncture. Joie is knowledgeable and professional. She communicates clearly throughout the treatment process. Office and treatment rooms are clean and comfortable. There is also lots of parking. I would recommend Zenjoy Acupuncture to my friends.

Joie is an incredibly skilled and knowledgeable practitioner. If you are looking for compassionate and effective care, I highly recommend her. She is my go to in the area... don't bother looking elsewhere. You won't be disappointed.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
