From the reviews
I have been seeing Ariel at Family Acupuncture since May for several different issues. My experience has been nothing short of fantastic. Ariel is kind, compassionate and knows how to effectively treat my issues.
I have been seeing Ariel Mayer for the past four years on a very regular basis. I have to admit, I was a skeptic of acupuncture but at the insistence of my doctor about the benefits of acupuncture, I decided to give it a try. Ariel Mayer is extremely intuitive, compassionate, very observant, kind and caring.
I’ve been a patient of Ariel for about a year and my only regret is not finding her sooner. I look forward to my weekly sessions for both physical and mental balance and healing. Ariel is extremely knowledgeable.
Ariel is the most intuitive acupuncturist that I have ever been to. She is observant, and sensitive to how my body feels and reacts, as she puts in the needles. And she uses that feedback to determine how best to proceed.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
