From the reviews

Tara is absolutely amazing acupuncturist and Chinese herbal medicine specialist, and a wonderful healer and person. Both my elderly mother and I are pacients in her practice . My mom is suffering from a neurodegenerative disease overlapping in symptoms with primary progressive aphasia.

★★★★★ — Oana, Feb 2025

I started seeing Tara because I needed help managing my stress levels and generally to have a better approach to overall wellness with the ultimate goal of physically feeling better and preparing myself for a healthy pregnancy.

★★★★★ — Angie, Jan 2023

Tara is a one-of-a-kind practitioner. What I found most valuable about Tara’s guidance is that my issues and symptoms didn’t, for her, need to add up to one perfect little picture to go inside a perfect box so I could be diagnosed and medicated accordingly as is the western practice.

★★★★★ — Ricky, Jan 2024

Simply the best! I came in with two main goals, and Tara was able to meet them both. Thanks to her, I’m finally on my way to recovery. She’s skilled, attentive, and truly effective. Booking is easy, and her Durham location is super convenient. Definitely ask about her appointment packages — they offer great savings.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
