What clients say about the cupping here
“Julie Gwyther and Carla Toth are knowledgeable and experienced acupuncturists who sincerely care about the well-being of their patients.”
“Julie Gwyther's calming and friendly disposition can put anyone new to acupuncture at ease!”
From the reviews
Julie is wonderful. I initially came for some tendon/muscle pains but she helped work through some major gut issues I had. I can't recommend anyone more.
Julie Gwyther and Carla Marie Toth are both very experienced and knowledgeable practitioners of Oriental medicine. Their results from acupuncture are amazing. I am so glad that they have group community acupuncture sessions which make it much more affordable to get acupuncture treatment more regularly.
Julie is simply the most caring and knowledgable person in her industry. I have truly enjoyed connecting with her and learning more about how acupuncture can improve my health and well being. I feel 100% comfortable with her in regards to her knowledge and interest in my wellbeing. Highly recommended!
I have experienced firsthand Julie's skill and caring at Durango Comunity Acupunture. She is very easy to communicate with and I am very happy with the treatments she has recommended. I have reffered her to several of my friends and will continue to visit myself.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
