From the reviews

As a triathlete pushing for my first half ironman and a marathon runner, I do some pretty rough stuff to my body. There is honestly only so much stretching and Epsom salt the body can handle before you need to see a real pro, and Nancy at Charleston Sports Massage is the only person I will see.

Fabulous therapist! Athletes can't afford NOT to go! She does cupping, stretching and deep tissue but she specializes in sports massage. Very knowledgeable and personable! I loved it and will return!

★★★★★ — Ashana, Dec 2016

Nancy is fantastic! I'm active (sometimes working out for multiple hours a day) and her technique with cupping and massage has helped diminish pain significantly. I'm so glad I've found her!

★★★★★ — Kristen, Mar 2020

As a professional athlete the health of my body is a very important aspect of my life. I have had my fair share of sports massages throughout my sports career. Nancy has done an amazing job of setting herself apart, not only by her knowledge and expertise on what the body needs to function at a high level, but with…

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
