From the reviews

If you’re in need of a massage I highly recommend Birchwood Bodywork, Connie is amazing! She takes the time to listen to your issues and will come up with the best plan for your session. I’ve had deep tissue, hot stone and cupping all are amazing. Her trigger point work is some of the best I’ve had.

I have experienced Connie's massages and cupping. She is first rate! I have issues with my shoulder, back and knees! I always feel so good and relaxed after her bodywork Highly recommended!

Everything about this massage was fantastic. Connie has a small, one room, private practice in Middleton, which is great especially during Covid since you only interact with her. The scheduling website is easy to use. Connie is very pleasant to be around and is very knowledgeable about physical and massage therapy.

I found Birchwood Bodywork when I was 8 months pregnant, searching for a place that specialized in Prenatal massages in the Madison area. I’m so happy I booked an appointment! I have also experienced the hot stone therapy. Both were great!!

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
