Why Bastyr Center for Natural Health is listed — cupping is a treatment, not a Google category, so we only list a provider when there's real proof they offer it. Here's what we found: “The moxa may also be burned directly on the body, usually with a medium of salt, ginger, etc. placed between it and the skin. Moxa may also be placed above the skin on the handle of the needle to heat the needle shaft. Cupping Cupping is a…” source →

From the reviews

This is the leading naturopath teaching clinic in the country and it depends on which clinic you go to see (Naturopathic, Acupunture, Chinese Medicine) but the visits are almost an hour long and very thorough but it is a teaching clinic so you will be seeing students before the attending (they also have a private…

I was so impressed by this clinic. I've been to naturopaths and acupuncturists over the years who went to Bastyr, and they have all been excellent. Because I don't have insurance at the moment and try to avoid antibiotics due to previous health issues, I contacted them.

I’ve been coming here now for almost 20 years! After being told from a doctor that I would need to take OTC medication for the rest of my life - I thought there must be a better alternative. I searched around and made an appointment here. At first I I started with the student clinic - which was amazing!

My personal experience here was honestly better than I had expected. I've been struggling with my health for almost a year now, relying solely on the support and expirence from others like me online and through groups without any help from doctors.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
