I don’t usually leave reviews, but I felt I had to share my experience with Dr. Jiaze Zhu. A few weeks ago, I injured my back so badly that I could barely get out of bed. The pain was affecting my daily life, and I was honestly getting worried. I was in New York at the time, but I trusted Dr.
This was my second time using Athletico for my physical therapy after having surgery. I went back because of how well my rehabilitation and recovery went the first time. They were able to get me scheduled promptly and they were able to accommodate my schedule. Jaime did my evaluation and Issac was my primary therapist.
I was referred to Athletico by my Dr after having issues with my knee and hip. My PT was Jiaze and he was amazing. I not only felt listened to and validated, but he was so great with explaining every step of the process.
When I first got into physical therapy I was like meh I don’t really know if I like this. But my physical therapist and the physical therapy sessions have been nothing but amazing. From the moment I started actually working on it, I felt supported and understood.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
