I got to know Alison when I was pregnant with my second and wanted VBAC. I started my session when I was 39 weeks pregnant. She helped me calm down and in bringing on my labor after my third session which was such beautiful experience. From then on Alison has become part of my wellness till today.

Ali has helped me so much with acupuncture over the years! I am always recommending her to people. I saw her throughout my two last pregnancies. During that time, in addition to helping with general pregnancy wellness, she used acupuncture to help me turn a breech baby and to help me get labor going after my water…

Alison is a truly wonderful person and health care professional! I began seeing Alison about 2 1/2 years ago after begin treated by a variety of doctors over the span of years with little or no relief for headaches, neck pain, and hot flashes/night sweats.

★★★★★ — Tina, May 2022

Let me begin by saying that, when I met Alison, I was very skeptical of acupuncture. My primary care doctor suggested that I look into acupuncture as a last resort for chronic neuropathic pain. In my initial meeting with Alison, she explained in a very straight-forward way how she thought acupuncture would benefit me.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
