From the reviews
I have had acupuncture in other clinics but never tried cupping therapy before. Dr. Wang did cupping on my back after acupuncture. I love it! My back pain is relieved after the treatment. I feel very relaxed. High recommended.
Dr. Wang, as well as her associates that do massage and cupping, are absolutely wonderful. It has taken me years to find a practice as good as this one and I have referred many others to it. Dr. Wang was trained both in China and in the United States and her expertise shows.
TLDR: In short, couldn't recommend this practice highly enough. Dr. Wang and her team (Tina and Dawn) are nothing short of excellent. Having had acupuncture performed by different folks both in and out of the DMV for chronic back issues, she is hands down the best.
We have been coming to Advance Acupuncture for the past few months. I had been suffering with a stiff back and shoulder and needed some therapy to resolve this. I consulted with Dr Wang and we came up with a treatment plan. The staff is very professional and good at their work.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
