From the reviews
This was my first time doing the Hijama treatment and Alhumdulilah I was very pleased. Dr. Awatif is kind and compassionate. She listened and addressed my concerns thoroughly. On top of that, she was extremely hygienic. She is someone I absolutely trust with my health. If you are in Florida, please come and see her.
First time experience and it went better than I could have ever expected. I did the hijama (cupping) procedure and was a little anxious at first but I gave it a try and I’m glad I did. I had neck pain from my pillow and have had pain for weeks and I feel so much better. I have more energy and feel healthier overall.
Dr. Awatif Hammud is the best I have encountered for accupuncture, hijama therapy and holistic medicine. She is extremely knowledgeable and very sweet and caring.
Dr. Awatif Hammud came highly recommended and so I traveled all the way from Northwest Florida to have hijama treatment for the first time. I have been in constant pain for over almost 3 years and I feel so much relief after just one session, it’s been an absolute game changer for me!
Booking hijama (wet cupping) at Acupuncture and Hijama Therapy
Acupuncture and Hijama Therapy comes up as a provider that offers hijama — wet cupping, where the skin is lightly punctured after suction so a small amount of blood is drawn. If you're booking hijama specifically, a few things are worth asking before you go. First, sterility is everything — a reputable practitioner uses a fresh, single-use kit (new blades and cups) for every client and follows clean, gloved technique. It's completely fair to ask how they handle this. Second, many people booking hijama want a same-gender practitioner — a female practitioner is available here. Third, ask about aftercare and whether they observe particular days if that matters to you.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
