From the reviews

Dr. Karen is such an amazing chiropractor. My family appreciates her and all she does for our health. She’s a great listener and always offers options. I recently experienced cupping for the first time and really enjoyed it. The hot pack before really helped me to relax. Such a great visit.

I was somewhat skeptical prior to making my appointment. I am so thankful I followed through! Dr A takes time to explain not only her procedures but also the reasoning behind her interventions. I went to her with Vertigo. Her skills, knowledge., and recommendations are respected and appreciated.

I was so thrilled that Dr. Karen Achtermann was able to see me same day. While I travel with my husband, finding a good practice is often difficult. Dr. Karen was well versed in Activator therapy and sent me off feeling so much better. Highly recommend this practice.

Life‑changing experience — highly recommend Dr. Karen Achtermann After a week of barely being able to walk or lift my right foot more than an inch off the ground, I finally decided to see a chiropractor — and I am so thankful I found Dr. Achtermann.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
